I finally got a haircut earlier this year, the first in about a year and a half. It was down past my shoulders and I mostly liked the way it looked, but it got to be annoying in a number of ways. I have a cat who likes to walk across my pillow at odd times during the night and he would always step on and pull my hair. Then when I got up in the morning, if I didn't at least try to brush it down before I came out into the living room it would spook the dogs. When I left the house I'd have to tie it back with a hair tie. (I was never tempted to do the "man bun" thing, but the wife told me that if I ever did she'd divorce me.) So I tried really long hair once, and now I'm over it. I've shaved my head twice over the years, and I doubt that I'll ever do that again, either.

    Alert... Alert !!
    Virtue signalling ahead.

For nearly 40 years, I've grown hair to near middle of my back (about 18-24 mo.)
cut it to 2-3 inches and started over.

It can be aggravating at times.

I've been donating hair that long.

    Agreed.

For me, the beard in was the challenge.

Somewhere.... there is a picture of me in law school with hair down to the middle of my back flipping someone the bird. I've seen the picture, I just don't know where it is. The ability to grow that kind of hair is long gone...

I still have a healthy head of hair; no gray or white anywhere.. blond-ish.
Nowwww, my beard is a different story... seems odd.. -shrug-

I will likely never grow bald due to 3/8 Native American blood, and also why the beard has always been slow growing.
