When I was in the army in rattlesnake country every rattlesnake we confronted was killed. At least during daylight. I kept the rattle of every one I killed. The place where we had the biggest rattlesnake problem was FT Carson Colorado. They were an issue from May through September.

I have no desire to wipe out Rattle Snakes as such, but sometimes when people are involved it is like clearing a mine field.

We weren’t trying eradicate the rattlesnake population. Just keep our immediate are as safe as possible.

Ironically social media has become a mainstay for law enforcement. People simply cannot help themselves and brag about the stupid or in this case rightful things they do even though they know it’s against the law.

I read an article a couple years ago about how the DOW scours social media looking for people posting pictures of their trophy kills out of season. The next day they are surprised when LEOs show up and arrest them finding the kill hanging in their garage.

It’s literally new-age Darwinism. (I’m copywriting that term!)

But, but...that violates their freedom of speech, and their reasonable expectation of privacy, and stuff.

Used to go to the rattlesnake hunts around Strawn every year. It's fun, but man the place is literally overrun with them, used to be anyway, and everybody slept in campers or on cots, lol.

Different town, but only one of several. Georgia used to have big ones, too, near some famousr mountain I can't recall at the moment.

I can remember a time when people killed poisonous snakes in Georgia and would take them to some medical facility and get paid for th. They used them for anti-venom.
