She's made some bad decisions, but let's face it, she's a political prisoner. If I was her, I wouldn't expect to be getting out in nine years, they're liable to keep messing with her and adding years to her sentence. Maybe for in prison behavior. She was also fined $16k. Wouldn't surprise me if they aren't going to allow her to access her money in the US, and will have to pull that money out of her arse somehow. Or have years added to her sentence.

Maybe I'm being overly cynical, but I doubt it. Her only real hope of getting out of there lies in the Biden administration making a deal for her.

I can't find anything in the news about an agreed-to swap. Only that Russia has agreed to negotiate. The only really bad thing about this that I can see is that it encourages Russia and other countries - but mostly Russia - to snatch up Americans on the slightest pretext and get actual spies and criminals back in return. Hardly an equitable deal.

Americans should stay out of Russia, then. Especially now, with all this tension.

But basketball James the great exaulted LeBron says it's our fault. Poor Britney is so poorly paid at a 1/4 million or so a year that she had to moonlight in Russia! The $#@! (James) has no concept what the fans that made him make or how they live.
Having said all that I wish her well. I do believe you need to know the law when traveling but I also think she is being used as a pawn.

First thing they told us in boot was, don't go $#@!ing around in other countries. Americans, especially US servicemen, are ready-made targets.
The last thing they said was, Remember the first rule.
