    What can we agree on?

What political ideas can a decent majority of this forum agree on?
Also, since we are in general a conservative forum, what ideas might we even be able to agree with Jack and Jill democrat?
    I'll start:

Term limits: Who supports term limits for federal politicians?

Can we agree that the Constitution is not a living document?

I think we can agree a political revolution is taking place in America.

If it was not a living document would blacks be slaves and women still not vote? You cannot possibly believe those guys were infallible.......

I used to believe the voting booth was their term limits but with all the apathy and then money the can raise in office I now am for it...........

I guess it depends what a revolution is. The idea we need over five hundred bodies in congress, with all that collective power, is working seems crazy. I think three branches has worked well. We need to stop letting politicians keep manipulating us for votes and begin acting like adults.............

Did you not read the definition of "living document" that Pete provided?

You can support it but the Federal Government cannot do anything about it. It is states that decide who they send to represent them.

    1) I think we can all almost all agree that we need to move forward with nuclear power as a national policy.

    2) I think we can all agree that we want to encourage more US manufacturing and reducing imports significantly.

    3) I think we can all agree that we want a dependable shield against missiles.

    4) I think we all agree that we want to kill as few babies as possible.

I do not understand why we cannot all agree that we need to close our Southern borders to illegal immigration, matched with a working legal immigration system.
    Let's go Brandon !!!

The Constitution is not a living document. Slavery was dealt with via a Constitutional Amendment. One of the two ways to change it. The only two ways. Whim, isn't a third way.

Hell no. A "living constitution" is not a constitution at all but no more than a group of suggestions about how we should be controlled by the government.

If it were up to me I would repeal every amendment after the 15th. I would rewrite the 2nd, 9th and 10th amendments to make it all but impossible to misconstrue the intent of the founding fathers. I would rewrite the "General Welfare" clause to make it clear it did not mean opening the Treasury to feed and clothe citizens on a National level. Otherwise, I would make no changes of any kind to the Constitution of the United States, a document that offers the greatest freedom to the highest number of people in the world.

The Constitution says what it means and means what it says. But politics has been so twisted for so long that people cannot conceive of it having been so straight forward.

Well, maybe I would support an amendment that made it a crime punishable by firing squad for anyone uttering the phrase "income tax"
