Even if he did take documents with him that should be in the Archives, conducting a raid like this is over the top and probably a violation itself. What other options were exercised to get him to return the documents? Were official requests for their return sent to him and his attorneys? Was he issued a subpoena requiring him to produce the documents?

That’s nonsense. The judge knows that he or she is risking their job by signing off on this. If the basis for the warrant wasn’t rock solid, he or she is probably facing impeachment proceedings the next time Republicans get control of Congress.
