Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

Call your state legislators and insist they approve the Article V convention of States to propose amendments.

Most ideas can be simplified.
I am biased by my education. As an engineer I was educated to simplify, simplify, simplify until I can understand a thing, gaining insights along the way. Then, once I have a likely solution I can add complexity back in. It worked very well for me allowing me to go from entry level engineer to manager 3 in 12 years.
I suppose it all depends on the point. In the past I have noted, complained even that some of us fetishize the words of long dead men. I see that as a mistake now. Those who linger lovingly over the words of others have their reasons.

Oh, I absolutely agree with that sentiment. Note, please, that I wrote "To great a reliance on...", etc. Arming oneself with the words and thoughts of those who've come before is invaluable....even essential in many instances. The tendency that I was referring to in a negative way was the attribution of this or that ideology, philosophical tradition or what-have-you to anyone who expresses their personal view on virtually any topic. Criticizing or dismissing someone's opinion on the grounds that it reflects this tradition or the teachings of that scholar or political historian, rather than focusing on the rationality of the opinion itself.

Tradition is not the worship of ashes, but the preservation of fire. ― Gustav Mahler
