I've never watched it, either, but my late sister was a big fan. I always used to buy her stuff from the show for her birthdays and Christmas, so now I have the stuff back - some big plaques with the symbols of the various families, some very cool direwolf bookends, etc. I've always enjoyed films and t.v. with a lot of swordplay and battles, like 'Vikings' and 'Brittania' (too much mysticism and magic for me in 'Brittania', though). Even when I was a kid I was a big fan of those old Italian Sword & Sandal movies, what the Europeans call "peplum". (Yeah, I know..."Joey, do you like movies about gladiators?") Sergio Leone got his start writing and assistant-directing on those before getting into spaghetti westerns. Too much magic in a story tends to irritate me, even in some of the recent Marvel films. I'm cool with dragons, though. I may check out GOT some day. Love Peter Dinklage.

There is a little magic. And three dragons. Where would the story be without a coming winter and white walkers?

It is a good story well told.

Although I enjoyed GoT (except the ending) I won't be watching the woke prequel. I've read The Lord of the Rings:The Rings of Power has gone down the same woke path so I'll be giving that a miss as well.

Why do they have to ruin everything?
I liked all of GoT including the ending.

For a good while, I thought it was the best TV show I had ever seen. But I can't say that anymore, because the ending ruined it for me. Even if you liked the ending, you can't deny that last season was really rushed.

I'm going to watch House of the Dragon, even though I'm aware it's been wokified. I know they've race swapped one of the families. Which really doesn't make sense, since these stories are based on medieval Europe. But I read the book Fire and Blood that it's based on, so I'll watch it. I can't get too upset about changes made to GRR Martin. Now Tolkien is another story, like Rings of Power. It absolutely infuriates me that they are changing that, and adding to it. The idea that they think Tolkien needs "fixing' enrages me.

    The ending was russhed?

    No.

I do understand that many fans go nuts over the last seasons of successful series.

I don't see how anyone can disagree that it was rushed. Let's try it this way: You don't notice any difference in the pace of the show between the early episodes and the latter ones?

The ending of good shows always leave butt hurts.

Sort of like in the Army I was tasked with ending something. You said end. I did end.

I never watched G.O.T., but I've seen shows where the storyline did get rushed at the end, and it was invariably the result of the show ending before the writers thought it would. Could that have happened with G.O.T.?

IIRC, the main GOT writers got an offer to work on another project - I think it was Star Wars related. Reportedly, they got all excited and invested in this new project, and got in a hurry to finish up GOT, and the quality suffered. They were going to do a ten episode final season but cut it to ten.

The other problem is that GRR Martin still hasn't finished his Song of Ice and Fire books. In the early seasons they had the text to refer to. When the series finished, they didn't have any books to refer to, Martin just gave them a skeleton of what happens. So they had to flesh it out themselves, and obviously they came out differently.
