The other problem is that GRR Martin still hasn't finished his Song of Ice and Fire books. In the early seasons they had the text to refer to. When the series finished, they didn't have any books to refer to, Martin just gave them a skeleton of what happens. So they had to flesh it out themselves, and obviously they came out differently.
It helps a production immeasurably when the show-runners and the writers are all on the same page in terms of story and pacing, and when everyone knows in advance how big a canvas, so to speak, they have to work with. A great example is the current hit series on Paramount+, 'Yellowstone'. Taylor Sheridan is very hands-on with his creation, and writes and directs many episodes himself. Given its popularity, the only thing that could stop future seasons of the show would be Kevin Costner deciding he didn't want to do it any more. One of my all-time favorite shows, 'Sons of Anarchy' was the same way. Kurt Sutter knew the story he wanted to tell, and the network (FX) let him tell it, allowing many of the Season 7 episodes to run 90 minutes. (The reputation of FX for letting their creators do their creative thing is 'Justified', pun intended. 'Fargo', 'The Shield', 'Rescue Me', 'American Horror Story', 'Mr. Inbetween', 'Baskets', etc.)

The last season of GOT was without question semi half arsed and rushed into closing the series out. Though this nearly happens with any long running shows on tv today imo.

No chance am i spending 15 a month to get hbo max for this, it just looks like a cheaper version of GOT with lesser actors.

The series was based on a book. They kept the TV series going long past where the books ended, hence the writing seems 'rushed' and artificial; it looks that way because it is. Writing for an ongoing TV show is a lot different than writing a novel at your own leisure.

I liked the blonde woman with the dragons, and the dragons; didn't much notice the other actors except the dwarf, who was pretty good, different at least. Not a memorable series as far as the setting and premises.
