    The World's Coolest Video Gamer

I think we all know that hardcore video gamers are a mostly male bunch and mostly younger, and that these things are especially true of gamers who play mainly on dedicated gaming consoles (e.g. the Nintendo, PlayStation, or Xbox systems) instead of on mobile devices or home computers. It's not something we associate with old women, and the market clearly isn't geared toward them. That's why I find this lady so refreshing. Almost inevitably, she provides a quite different and unique perspective.

This video's about a year old now apparently, but I just got through watching it after it was recommended to me (having clicked out of curiosity after seeing the host was an old lady) and couldn't resist passing it along. It's this woman's story about how she got into video gaming and, as you might suspect, it's an unorthodox one with lots of interesting twists and turns. She's an excellent storyteller, by the way; knows how to sustain the viewer's interest. The super short version though is that stumbling into console gaming in a rather humorous manner wound up helping her through an especially traumatic and devastating period of her life. It was particularly interesting to learn how she selected games to try out initially because her process of experimentation seems to have been quite different from that of most gamers and much more frankly broad-minded. I like it! What I found most interesting of all though was the especially helpful role that was played by Hyperdimension Neptunia and Atelier Ayesha. These are the kinds of gaming stories I love hearing the most; like how a game, or games, made a positive difference in their someone's perspective on life! There have been many games that have played that kind of role in my own life, and a few in an especially pronounced way.

EDIT: Sorry for the inconvenience, but it appears the owner of the video has actually disabled playback thereof on other sites (like this one), so you'll have to actually click the "Watch on YouTube" link to view it. Apologies for that! Still totally worth it.

More power to those who have such spare time on their hands, I've got firewood to chop, literally. I'm about to go cut up a big log on my lower five, lol.

They are making money. Colleges are building E-sports teams. Personally I don't get it, but on the other hand it provides an avenue for workaloholic non athletes to represent their school and make a few bucks so.......

There's a living to be made in the streaming business too (like the lady in the video I believe does), but that only works out if you're particularly entertaining and have all the right equipment.

Games can be lots of things. Competitive sports. Interactive movies or books. Workout routines. Leisure, perhaps social, entertainment. Mental challenges (e.g. puzzle games). Other stuff. I've used them toward all of those ends and more before at different points.

In reading online I’ve read that incels call women $#@!s and $#@!s bc they can’t get a date. AA is a $#@!tsburgh fan, so Incel would be a logical conclusion.
