I've discovered that some posters feel threatened by opinions they don't agree with and they'll do anything they can to discredit a member who posts those types of opinions. Ad hom attacks are a common way for them to lash out.

I would suggest--and this is just me--scroll over.

And, take some pleasure in the fact that they can't really uphold an adult conversation.

Many of us enjoy your posts on Ukraine because many of us already knew what was happening there before the KoolAid version spilled across MSM.

But, understand that those KoolAid drinkers don't have that knowledge base. So, the only response they have is to attack your sources. What they're doing is childish and ignorant, but rest assured that the majority of the posters know what they're doing and why.

Thanks FindersKeepers :-). Because of the policy here that if you respond to a post, any reports you make on it are apparently ignored, I've actually been doing what you say. However, I do think that the rules shouldn't just be for show- if the rules say that reported ad hominem attacks in tpf threads should result in thread bans if the author reports them, they should have thread bans. Otherwise, it makes a mockery of the supposed rules.

Would it be so hard to simply let people making reports that their report was received and perhaps what decision was made?

That's the thing when we essentially aren't allowed to talk about the reports we're making publicly. People can have all sorts of ideas as to what's being reported. I think it'd make a lot more sense if we could publicly say what posts we reported and why, but failing that, it makes perfect sense that you would have such suspicions, however unfounded.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if some/all the mods think this. What I know is that I've never gotten confirmation that I've sent a single report.

Might be an idea to try to recruit more moderators? I've been in another forum where reports were frequently responded to. The moderators wouldn't always rule in my favour, but I would at least come to an idea as to why. It would also help in having an idea as to what moderators would consider an actionable report and what they wouldn't consider to be one, perhaps resulting in less reports.

I'm not getting the automatic response either. But perhaps most importantly, I've asked a moderator if they've gotten any of my reports. So far, no response, and it's been a few weeks since I sent the first I believe.

A clear indication you are needlessly bothering them. Perhaps you should grow a pair. Oh, are you going to report me?

I thought you were a stickler for the rules? It's against the rules to discuss moderation.
