California's means of producing their electric needs in the EV era is pretty iffy,

California's electric requirements might rise by 68% on the next 20 or so years. But the plan on how that is supposed to happen may well be lacking. Shocker right? The article talks about a fifteen year permit process for some types of winf farms and we are alread inside 13 years to zero emissions.
Not familiar with the source but see what you think. It looks like this whole thing may be more smoke and mirrors than real.
The plan is over hyped and under planned.
Also, how can something like this be ordered with approval by the legislator or the people? How can that be?

Alice Reynolds, president of the California Public Utilities Commission, the regulatory agency which oversees the state’s power operations, said California has made great strides in the past two years in increasing the reliability of the grid. She said the agency has also been escalating the installation and improvement of energy storage technologies, despite supply chain challenges brought on by the pandemic.

But, she added, “the hard work really is yet to come.”

“We need to think about how the energy sector can continue to grow — double or triple — to meet decarbonization goals,” she said. “And we need to focus on what it takes to meet the needs of an evolving grid, especially during the hours when the system must ramp up to replace our massive solar fleet as the sun sets.”

She is some University wackjob without the slightest clue how we will ever produce this amount of energy. If we had tornado's (and we don't) your not going to get enough wind! Covering our deserts with solar panels would not be enough nor reliable.

California used to have several nuclear power plants in operation. Now they only have one and it’s scheduled to close ins couple of years.

California, like many other states should go back to generating nuclear power. This would solve all of our energy needs.

LOL. I think the time she should have thought about it was before Newsome grandstanded with an absolutely impossible decree.

California hates any kind of usable energy. They should go back to the stone ages. Let them switch to Flintstones foot powered cars.

Many states have laws stating they will follow California's vehicle emission standards. Many of those won't follow California into the recent gas car ban craze.

The 17 states that follow California's emission standards and might now BAN gas cars - as extreme weather sees electric car owners stopped from charging vehicles in the Golden State
