    This is your FDA

After sitting on the board that approved or disapproved many tobacco product applications one of the FDA's "Top tobacco Scientist" goes to work in industry after reviewing the "Marlboro Maker's" products
Apparently the waiting period is now somewhere around zero time even a direct and potentially corrupting relationship exist
The FDA continues to deliver as the poster child for government agency corruption!
Why do we put up with this $#@!?

My 2 cents. It's not so much the product PM is marketing (though I find it of interest that they won't sell it in US because of 'patent issues, hmmm) or the FDA attempts at regulating it, but the allowed defection of interested parties to the very clients and industries they were supposed to be regulating. Sort of like the congressweasels going to the companies they created regulations for.

It doesn't take an MBA (of which I am not) to figure out what the problems and corruptions are.

I’m not so concerned about a person leaving government and going into the private sector.

Now, if he left Phillip Morris and went to the FDA and immediate made a decision which benefitted PM I might view it differently.

The Irony here is that the left are correctly suspicious of scientists who work for Big Tobacco or Oil companies as an example. Obviously the employer is looking for particular results rather than objective science.

But the same lefties trust Government or University employed scientists even when politics and major funding are driving desired results like Climate Change.

Oh exactly. That's why I posted. I thought there were supposed to be waiting periods from regulatory to industry and even to K Street. I guess I was wrong.
Maybe I am just getting older but it seems to me that the corruption has not only increased but is far more out in the open like this, than it used to be.

He just did the opposite of that. Couldn't this be his reward?

I guess you could advocate for a law which says one is restricted for two years from working for an industry which is regulated by government. But then you’d have to apply to everyone, even those just separated from the military.

Just make it part of the contract. These are highly paid people who wield power. I also think the whole political appointee process needs to have some rules about qualification
