    Are you freakin kidding me?

I live within a bit over an of SUNY Potsdam which has a well respected School of Music called Crane.
I was sitting here minding my own watching local news. Unknown media members who can do well what their famous counter parts can't. Report the news without issuing your opinion with it.
But tonight there was an article about how the Crane School of Music is going to add another another type of music to their curriculum which I believe is classically oriented.
Can you guess which one? Hip Hop.! The Woke culturalism has struck. Not Country or Rock or Easy listening because they don't belong in a school of music but Hip Hop. They must have been ordered to dig hard to find some cultural disparate or relevent issues to pile on the bandwagon. But freakin hip hop? My BP is up again!

Everybody and everything is tripping over themselves to be first for senseless conformity.

Hip Hop is the most popular genre in the US, so it's no surprise that they would add it if they are looking to add a form of popular music. Not really my cup of tea, I can appreciate some of it, but it is what it is.

They said it was popular among young people. But so was rock, country and pop and they never made the cut

It seems to be a two-day event: Crane School of Music to Welcome Hip Hop Educator-Scholars | SUNY Potsdam
The music degree program also includes a course in American music, which undoubtedly includes all of the above.

Dumbing Down music like everything else in the culture is nothing new. And before some fool cries racism I am talking about the great history of Jazz and Blues compared to this talentless nonsense.

Who needs to sing or play an instrument? Some computer keeps time and a beat while some foul mouth fool shouts obscenities and that is music!

It seems that I take Christianity more seriously every year but I detest the Christian music genre. It hasn't grown on me. Mind you, I love sacred music. I can listen to 16th Century church music for hours but that would probably fall under Classical.

If its not Gregorian Chants I ain't interested

Interestingly the music that came before the Gregorian Chant was flat and had no changes in melody. As a result the Gregorian Chant which was much more faceted was considered sacrilegious and raucous and not suitable music to honor the Lord.

So, maybe 1000 years from now Hip Hop will be the music of the Church

Where are these numbers from? I ask because rock's dominant position here gives me hope for humanity, if true!

I don't have a problem with a scholastic look at the Hip Hop genre.
