Those tiny little flashing lights off to the side of the road are a joke. Here in Scottsdale they have a a structure overhanging the street with several good-sized red lights that burn steadily red when someone pushes the button to cross and stays that way for some time, depending on the width of the street, and then flashing red for several seconds after that to accommodate stragglers, with signs telling drivers what to do in either case (Stop, or Stop and proceed with caution).

Wow. I don't think you can blame the older brother either. He had two to watch and the cross walk is supposed to be safe! Holy damn, as a parent and grandparent that scared the hell out of me!
