A wild ride in northwest Omaha Sunday afternoon for a horse. The owner of Dakota had him saddled up near Cunningham Lake, but Dakota broke free. The horse galloped into a swampy area and got stuck.

Four Nebraska Humane Society officers came to the rescue but they had to call in the cavalry. The Omaha Fire Department brought in an aerial rig to reach out into the swamp and hook up a harness and safety rope. Meanwhile, 13 Omaha firefighters, four animal control officers and three Omaha Police officers worked to pull Dakota from the mud while keeping him as calm as possible. It took more than two hours for the rescuers to free Dakota from the swamp. The horse was eventually reunited with its grateful owners.

One of my horses got stuck once, he got a back leg caught up in two strands of wire fencing, like it had been threaded, I don't know how he did it.

I wondered why he wasn't coming to the barn with the other two at feeding time, he just stood calmly.

I walked out to see and, saw the problem, I had to grasp both strands and pull them apart in opposite directions, so he could step out. He then followed me to the barn.

One of the first things you teach a horse, give to pressure, don't fight it, it's a good thing he was well trained or, he could have really injured himself.

There was an incident in East Tennesse when I lived there. A chicken and horse were walking through a field when the horse stepped in a hole and became stuck. The chicken told the horse "Don't worry, I just bought a new Harley, I will use it to pull you out" The chicken ran home, got her Harley and pulled the horse out of the hole.

About a week later the same chicken and horse were walking through another field when the chicken fell in a hole and was stuck. Don't worry, said the horse, I'll just straddle the hole, you grab my penis and I will pull you out and proceeded to do so.

The moral of this story is if you are hung like a horse you don't need a Harley to pick up chicks.
Devotion to the truth is the hallmark of morality; there is no greater, nobler, more heroic form of devotion than the act of a man who assumes the responsibility of thinking.”
