Has anybody seen those roaming bulls? Four rodeo
escapees on the lam near Fonda, Iowa...

Bulls are at large in western Pocahontas County because they broke out of a pen at the Fonda Labor Day rodeo. Five of T&C Rodeo Company’s bulls raced through the campgrounds Saturday, Sept. 3. They could not be reined in. Four remained at large as of Sept. 21.
Law enforcement is not fielding those calls about the missing animals. “There’s so much corn, it’s impossible for us to find them,” said Pocahontas County Sheriff Steve Nelson. “I don’t think it’s on us to find them.” Nelson described the loose animals as a “civil issue.” The animals could eat a farmer’s crops or cause a traffic accident. Crop losses and accidents are handled through the civil court system, not law enforcement, explained Pocahontas County Attorney Dan Feistner.
“If you get a bunch of hamburger on the road, you’ll see something, but nothing from us,” Feistner said on Wednesday. “Sure, they create hazards. They’re eating someone’s corn. There’s not a lot we can do.”
