    Tesla

I thought this was a great documentary series called the Tesla Files, it has 5 episodes. I included them in order.

We are all brothers and sisters in humanity. We are all made from the same dust of stars. We cannot be separated because all life is interconnected.

Haven't seem these, but they tried to make a TV series on Tesla, but imho it sucked, boring as hell. This doc should be a whole lot better. Interesting inventor, and not the only one ripped off by Edison.

I really enjoyed this one. Tesla is one of the greatest beings to have ever lived in my opinion. Edison was a thief, Marconi too. They didn't deserve their fame, yet they are the ones we learn about in school growing up. While Tesla was the one who brought us our modern world. I think this documentary does Tesla some justice, and it is very entertaining too.

Tesla invented the AC motor that still drives the world. That's his legacy, beign possible the best electrical engineer to ever live.

His physics, however, kind of sucked.

No, you can't make a death ray out of ions. Because they're, you know, ions, they all have the same electrical charge and they repel each other, so the beam quickly disperses. Maximum range, inches.

And no, you can't pump electricity into the ground and have people pull it out miles away.

Actually he was broadcasting power, and did have successful experiments. In one specific case which was in the local newspaper he blew a power station 6 miles away. When you aerial broadcast the power you complete the circuit by connecting to ground. He wasn't pumping electricity into the ground, that's not how it works.

He never claimed that he made a death ray it was called teleforce, and no one knows exactly what it was.

You are free to believe what you will, but Tesla is the Father of our modern world. If it wasn't for him we would be reading by candlelight, there would have been no radio, cell phones, and so many other things that came into being from his ideas.

Well, it was coal oil and then petroleum refining that did away with candle light and made staying up and reading after dark affordable to many millions of people, plus reduced the demand for whale oil among the wealthy, but yes, electric lights eventually became better. Westinghouse was a big player as well, creating some competition with the Morgan interests and General Electric. Morgan also backed Tesla's developments, playing both sides of the AC /DC contest. A couple of Swedish engineers came up with the big dynamos needed for mass generation, and Tesla's AC made long distance transmission lines viable.
