What is the benefit of blocking this speaker?
Free speech has long been controlled in Euro-land.

Countries are free to disallow entry to whoever they want. Particularly ridiculous conspiracy nuts who are only going to stir up trouble and force their police to afford them protection. Besides, anyone who is delusional enough to believe in lizard people, is clearly suffering from an unpredictable mental illness, or is just really dumb.

Right. In Euro-land and Canada you have no free speech rights.

Hmmm, well since Icke (an appropriate surname) isn't a citizen in the Netherlands or the EU, they don't have to indulge his brand of crazy.

And you don't have to allow unapproved speech from your citizens.

In the US the First Amendment applies to citizens and non-citizens inside the US.

Inside the US. That doesn't mean that the US has to let them in.

Look, you guys can allow only approved speech if that is your thing.

    It isn't ours.

I don't think it was necessarily about approved speech so much as some serious animosity for the guy among segments of the population as a result of his rabid antisemitic views. They felt this would trigger protests and anti-protests. They just didn't want the potential for violence and property damage. They were allowing the overall conspiracy theory event, so if it were a matter of shutting down that kind of speech, they would have simply prohibited the event rather than just ban an incendiary speaker.

As I said above David Icke doesn't have antisemitic views. Someone made that up. He actually believes that aliens from Alpha Draconian star system are here on earth in human form. Has anyone decided that those he has publicly "outed" as one of these aliens are all Jooos? Well, the most famous of Icke's aliens is King Charles..., so....

Why did they make it up? In Euro-land speech doesn't have to be antisemitic to be banned. They can ban anything they wish with zero limits.

From the point of view of security, does it matter whether people hate him because of a lie that has been proliferated in the press? The result would be the same. There would be unrest. People could be injured and property damaged. Voters would have legitimate reason to question why their government let this guy in, knowing the potential for protests or riots.
