Snow came early. We are getting hammered right now. It started about an hour ago. We weren't expecting it until tomorrow.

Now, 6-8 inches is forecast for tonight, which means we'll probably get a foot or more.

Wow. Early season snows can be so pretty--unless they're the type that come with howling, 80-mile-per-hour winds.

But, if they fall softly it changes everything. I like to go outside after a deep snow--it seems to soften everything, and dampers the sounds. Somehow it's just quiet. And, then if the sun comes out--wow--so bright.

Last night was 16 degrees, but the night before, it got down to 10. What's funny about here is that it will get down in the low teens at night, but today for example, I was teaching a class on the range and it was in the 50s. Temperature variants of 40 degrees or more between day and night are not at all unusual.

Tomorrow, snow is predicted. The coldest I have seen it here for a sustained period was around -35. In the summer, it may break 100 a few days, but as a general rule, the high 80s is the norm at the warmest time of the year.
That's not a bad climate overall. We get hotter in the summer, sweltering hot in fact because the humidity tends to be high. The wind is an issue here--it's usually blowing--coming from the southwest, so many of our trees grow pointing in a northeasterly direction. LOL

Enjoy your snow. We have light snow predicted for later today. Around 1 inch. It'll come in sideways. I have plenty of wood cut and maybe I'll start a fire out in the little house, she-shed, we have a lot of names for it, and enjoy a roaring fire with some cocoa and a good book.

We had our first snowfall on the sixth. It sure was beautiful. I don't think it bodes well, perhaps it will be another tough winter.

What type of pines are those? They're beautiful!

It does seem as though it could be a tough winter--starting out as it is. I hope it's not, but what can we do?

No snow, yet, but I swore I saw a bit of sleet mixed in the rain this morning. Temps around 37.

Not our normal November this year, highs in the 40s, lowest into the teens this weekend. Normal 50-60s with 40s at night.

    This is just rude.
