    Is America Hopelessly Divided?

    Between conservatives and progressives, indeed.

    Is America Hopelessly Divided?

...Progressive scholars for decades have claimed that liberal democracy by its very nature seeks to bring peace and reason to societies facing moral and intellectual disagreement. But no society can survive if its people cannot achieve general consensus on certain fundamental understandings regarding the nature of the person and of society itself. Moreover, while we do not have open war, it seems clear that America is divided between two groups operating on two sets of fundamentally hostile preconceptions. On one side are those who see America as a fundamentally decent country founded on moral principles and dedicated to protecting religiously-grounded communities. On the other are those who see our nation as fatally flawed and in need of replacement by a new society devoted to radically different principles, replacing traditional norms and institutions with an abstract code valuing the pursuit of individual interests and pleasures and using the state to achieve substantive “justice,” defined in terms of perceived grievances. Moreover, one party in this struggle has declared itself opposed to principles of civility and decorum, even in public deliberative bodies such as the U.S. Senate, seeing its enemies as unworthy of toleration, its goals as mandatory and holy, and its tactics as intrinsically justified, however much damage they may do to persons, processes, political structures, and personal lives....

It is indeed hopeless for conservatives and progressives to compromise. They are diametrically opposed. Like god and satan.

The obstacles are daunting. First, you have a media that is now almost fully a propaganda mouthpiece for the left.
You have the left dumbing down education to the point kids don't even know their own civil rights, and will quickly vote to violate the rights of others.
You have a federal government that is increasingly beyond the control of the people, because it is the single largest money laundering scam in human history. The sheer momentum of the federal government, to preserve their own grift, was seen by their response to Trump.

    Hopelessly so? It's damned close.

I'd agree it's not hopeless as democracy under this republic will work things out. Certainly not hopeless to the point of civil war as there's no clear geographical dividing lines.

Progressive, democrats, liberals, whatever. They are all leftists. They all vote for the same left-winger politicians.

Personally, I will never yield to the left. Why should I? They seek to destroy our country, our culture, our uniqueness, our way of life, our capitalist system, our language. Why would anyone want to compromise with those that desire to kill our nation in the name of global socialism and totalitarianism? Leftists claim to be preserving "democracy" when they vote for the same people who are causing damage to our freedom and liberty.

As leftists inject our nation with toxicity, and pushed the country away from God, wholesomeness, and everything decent, we started declining. Mass shootings, runaway crime, and other vile and disturbing happenings.

The left is poison. I will never, ever, agree to anything those evil people have to offer. But is there "hope?" Perhaps. When the leftist stupidity is gone.

I think the right has been yielding to the left historically. It is time to turn that around.
