This union deal Biden said is good for America...

Kinda went tits-up, didn't it? Now the most labor friendly president in the history of the known universe and seven that are not known is asking congress to force the union to take the deal. Now I am not a big fan of unions however my eyes do water when the government rogers them without any lubrication.

The adults baby! They gonna Stalin your ass if you do not comply.

The unions will end up killing the railroads they work for.

Nope. What’s going to happen is Biden and the Democrats will be forced to defy the Union and side with the Railroads. But then they’ll blame the Republicans and the media will back them.

Maybe so. I'm wondering if that route actually avoids a strike.

As I said in another thread

The question is does the strike only impact the unions and the railroads? And the answer is no. Since those of us who have absolutely no say in how irrational the unions and or railroads may be we are the ones who will suffer the most. Therefore, this is one of those times when it is reasonable and prudent for the government to defend the people from financial ruin outside of their control.
Devotion to the truth is the hallmark of morality; there is no greater, nobler, more heroic form of devotion than the act of a man who assumes the responsibility of thinking.”

Yep. Either way this works out, we pay more to ship goods.

Milton Friedman observed that private sector unions artificially raise the price of goods and services. And while Union Workers suffer Biden Inflation like the rest of us this is a pass the buck strategy.

Yes, this was undoubtedly spurred on by rising costs of living, thanks to Brandon. So, Brandon will make shipping via rail more expensive. Which will spurn more strikes. It's a vicious Ponzi scheme when you're implementing leftism.

The impact argument is rather broad based but in this instance the consequences of rail freight not moving in Winter are considerable. The same as the threatened Air Traffic Control strike under Reagan would impact most of the country.
