Well, since you can't provide any objective proof of "God's" existence, belief is all you have. For many people, that is enough, but it is still not objective proof.

He wasn't offering "objective proof" for God or anything else. The premise is that if God does not exist then objective values do not exist. That's it.

For that matter, one child or the other could have a fatal disease and saving that one will only extend its life for a matter of days or weeks. You only know that one will live and one will die. Neither child is yours, so you don't have that to factor in. No one is around to give you advice or urge you to save one or the other.

By the way, I know which one I would probably save, but I want to hear others' views on it before I say.

I honestly don't know if I would even have a conscious decision making process in that case. Whatever I did would probably be instinctual.

I hate to say, but I think I would save the older child because a 6-year-old is more likely to experience terror and instinctually fight for its life. I guess I feel as though the older one would suffer more.

Harsh, but that's not a terrible reason for picking one over the other.
