Baker Mayfield was informed that he was being demoted to the third string QB in Carolina, so he asked for his release and it was granted. He was placed on waivers and will be available for any team.

The 49ers lost their top two QB's to season ending injuries. They might be interested.

Not all that long ago Mayfield was a supposed rising star. That kind of fell apart fairly quickly.

Give him some protection and maybe he will develop.

The Browns did not give him much to work with and the Panthers were no improvement this year.

The expectations of being a great college QB seems to be a curse for the careers of these guys. They show they have talent but it seems like it takes 3 to 4 years to settle into the job.
That is also not helped by top QBs in college are often taken early by the worst teams.

Agreed, while I feel that Young Brock Purdy earned the start next week, he's an inexperienced rookie and might tank. It would be nice to have an experienced QB there to take over if needed. But they can't sleep on it, depending upon Jackson's injury, the Raven's may want him

Purdy looked good, but that’s not going to be the case when defensive coordinators develop a game plan specifically designed to expose his inexperience.

Mayfield went to the Rams. One of his problems is his height. A defensive lineman can block his passes.

For having only one practice session with the Rams, Mayfield was impressive tonight. I’ve seen anything like that before.

Carolina did him a solid by granting his request to be released.
