Beginning of the End of Christianity?

It looks like it's heading in that direction.

Is it just because people are more educated and no longer able to believe in the mythology of the tales?

Or, are a few of the more fundamental denominations driving people away?

Whatever it is, we'll likely see more churches closing their doors in the next few decades.

Christianity is the world’s most successful religion, with an estimated 2.38 billion believers in 2020. Islam is next largest with 1.91 billion, Hinduism third with 1.16 billion. Yet within many developed countries where it is still the largest religion, it seems to be in retreat. In England and Wales, according to the new census, fewer than half the population, 46.2 per cent, described themselves as Christian. That is down from 59.3 per cent in the previous census in 2011. By contrast 6.5 per cent said they were Muslim, up from 4.9 per cent in 2011, and 1.7 per cent Hindu, up from 1.1 per cent.

That is a sharp fall in only 10 years, but it fits into a pattern across the developed world. Even in the United States, Christianity is in decline. According to a new report by Pew Research, in 2020 an estimated 64 per cent of the population, including children, were Christian. It makes some projections about the future and estimates that by 2070 the probability is that fewer than half the population there will be Christian. Some 30 per cent of adults describe themselves as atheist, agnostic, or “nothing in particular”.

Christianity there collapsed in a huge way right after WWII, 70 years ago. Christopher Hitchens' brother, Peter has written a good book documenting the slide in England.

And yes, when you import a lot of non-Christians, the percent will tend to decline.

But, it seems the same people who are steadily becoming less Christian are also breeding less. Imagine that.
“The notion that a radical is one who hates his country is naïve and usually idiotic. He is, more likely, one who likes his country more than the rest of us, and is thus more disturbed than the rest of us when he sees it debauched. He is not a bad citizen turning to crime; he is a good citizen driven to despair.”
    H.L. Mencken

Indeed. I've argued and listened to atheists for 2 decades now. I've watched the debates between really smart Christians and really smart atheists.

In the end, there are not really any good logical arguments for atheism. That doesn't therefore mean Christianity, but it is what it is.

The irony is America is considered the most Christian nation but given our politics and the hate directed at everyone else, one must wonder what purpose Christianity serves. Love your neighbor, you gotta be kidding me. Check the hate directed at the Bidens for instance. But face it folks, life is a natural phenom and creation myths are all over the place, Christianity being just one of them. I gotta admit I'm gonna miss life but then again deep sleep is comforting.

"The belief of God is not a matter of common sense, or logic, or argument, but of feeling. It is as impossible to prove the existence of God as to disprove it. I do not believe in God. I see no need of such an idea. It is incredible to me that there should be an after-life. I find the notion of future punishment outrageous and of future reward extravagant. I am convinced that when I die, I shall cease entirely to live; I shall return to the earth I came from. Yet I can imagine that at some future date I may believe in God; but it will be as now, when I don't believe in Him, not a matter of reasoning or of observation, but only of feeling." W. Somerset Maugham, A Writer's Notebook

Christianity and religion in general is growing. Secular societies, which have fallen in love with death, are shrinking. The future belongs to the faithful and your female descendants may very well find themselves married to Muslim men. Good job.
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

If it's true that Christianity is disappearing then the thing to blame for all that hate is what's replacing it.

No midcan5, the real irony is yours and leftists calling disagreements of policy hate while spewing hate filled lies toward the right having nothing to do with policy.

You can run away now troll midcan5, it's what you do best.
