Atlantis was in the Sahara?

First I heard of it. Plato said it was beyond the Pillars of Hercules. The article explains that a boat passing that way goes south towards what is Morocco today.

A recent TV show said Atlantis was in the south of Spain, in a city called Silves. Hmmm. That is just beyond the Pillars of Hercules.

So the Sahara feature has been shown to be a natural formation.

Plato wrote that the Egyptians told about Atlantis 9,000 years before. Today that would be about 12,800 years before. Around that time there were two Younger Dryas meltwater pulses then which raised sea levels around 300 to 400 feet. That would have buried many islands.

Silves is east of Gibraltar. Not past it, which would be west for Plato.
