Where I grew up, we got TV out of Youngstown. If my father went out with a pipe wrench, he could turn the antenna and maybe get some out of Pittsburgh. I remember when somebody in the area that color TV. That was incredible.

Some people still use them in rural areas. Also, there are new digital versions today. Antennas are now making a comeback given that people are dropping their cable and streaming much of their programming off the internet. They then use digital antennas to pick up local tv service so they can get local news etc.I am old enough to have had a black and white TV growing up!
