It's useful to read what someone is responding to before responding yourself. In this case the relevant part of the post I was responding to, which was quoted, by the way, was: "Seeing how there had already been incidents on set with live rounds complicates matters but is meat and potatoes for a civil suit." Responding that the civil aspect has already been settled thus has nothing to do with the criminal trial, making your response quite unnecessary, but it does make me wonder whether you read selectively. That may explain a lot.

They do now, but at one time they didn't have built-in safeties. People got shot accidentally all the time.

Unintended shootings through negligence have occurred forever. That still doesn’t make them accidents.

I have firearms made in the mid 1800’s and they have a safety lever. Some Firearms today are manufactured without a safety switch.

Who prepared the weapon for the scene? The armorer by admission loaded the pistol. She claimed she believed she was loading it with “dummy” rounds. So that means she had to be on site at the time.


BTW, blank rounds are not dummy rounds.

Dummy rounds are a thing and it is not clear if they, or blanks, were used on set.

The armoer, who was on the set at the time the shooting hapoened, said that she loaded the gun with what she thought were dummy rounds.

I know that they are a thing, but they are not blank rounds. Dummy rounds are inert. They have no primer. They can not be discharged.


It makes even less sense that she would load the pistol with dummy rounds if they were trying to replicate an actual discharging firearm. It sounds to me that this so called armorer is a complete incompetent who can't even distinguish a blank from a live round or a dummy round.


Of course, none of that relieves Baldwin of his his responsibility in this.
