American History Crisis: Most High Schoolers Flunked US Citizenship Test. They’re Now Adults.

Americans’ lack of historical knowledge is crippling the nation, says Timothy Goeglein, a senior official with the Christian group Focus on the Family.

In his new book “Toward a More Perfect Union: The Moral and Cultural Case for Teaching the Great American Story,” Goeglein discusses a survey conducted among public high school students that revealed that only 3% could pass a U.S. citizenship test. Those students surveyed are adults today, Goeglein explains, adding, this means many Americans today “are woefully ignorant of not only our history and culture, but our system of government.”

Goeglein, who formerly served as a special assistant to President George W. Bush, tracks the lack of knowledge of American history back to the late radical historian Howard Zinn’s influence on American history curriculums. Zinn’s “goal was not to teach facts, but opinions,” he says....

How could they possible pass it? They don't teach history to the students anymore; they teach WOKE interpretation of history.

I'll never forget during the Iraq War. I mean right in the midst....only 34% of adults....supposedly educated adults....could identify Iraq on a globe.

Now...they ALL had opinions on the Gulf War and whether or not we should even be in Iraq.....and this was the 2nd Iraq War America was involved in.....

but less than 4 in ten Americans could find it on a map.

They don't know there American History but they know very well how to knock it down under a false banner of "Critical Thinking."

This very problem has come up in another thread where activist propaganda and ignorance is being defended as a many points of view approach to education.

I have conversations with individuals who do not "believe in" the Holocaust as if it is a religious doctrine instead of history.

I was just laughing about a similar situation with a Hungarian friend. He mentioned that many Americans he meets dislike Orban and I wondered how many Americans even knew where Hungary was prior to being instructed by the "news" to hate the man.

They probably mean that the Holocaust has become dogma and that questioning even a single detail is heresy.

Most High Schoolers Flunked US Citizenship Test. They’re Now Adults.

During my army career I was assigned as a Senior ROTC instructor in a major university system.

I used to sit in many classes in my spare time. One class I sat in on regularly was a US history class. One day I had the professor ask if I would take a ten question quiz in class and allow him to share my results in class compared to those of his students. I agreed.

It was a portion of the citizenship test. This was a test I could have passed in fifth or sixth grade. I answered every question correctly.

Most of the college students who were of various years failed miserably. Most didn’t seem to care nor were they embarrassed by their results.

I'm surprised they haven't changed the Citizenship Test to be an all-Woke quiz.
