Yes, there is a way, but I personally don't know how. My son disables those things on his cars. There are apps that can be downloaded which interact with the computers on the cars. It's beyond me, though.

It would be nice to be able to turn it back on when you brought it in for maintenance. Then turn it back off.

My wife's car was made in Germany. It was ordered feature by feature by her and we were told when the build started, when it left the factory, when it was placed on the ship and when it landed in the US.

The article was not political, nor are the studies whose findings it detailed. I have to wonder why every time someone points out a potentially dangerous situation now - even when the facts are indisputable, and when no attempt by anyone to "control" or ban anything has even been suggested - certain individuals are triggered into a "the Left wants to take away my freedom" rant. Are studies that show the medical dangers of playing professional football politically motivated, as some have suggested? This Straw Man mentality of attributing ulterior motives to anyone who points out anything certain people don't want to hear has reached ridiculous levels. Advocates for vegetarianism who outline the health benefits of the practice are regularly accused of being leftist stooges. I just read a couple of posts in the thread about the Chinese scientists who believe the Earth's core is undergoing some cyclic change that expressed skepticism based solely on an imagined link - made by no one - with human activity. Does absolutely everything in the world have to be linked to or influenced by political considerations? Can't we simply evaluate facts on the basis of whether or not they appear to be true, without subjecting them to a test for, for want of a better term, political correctness?

Why would anyone suspect liberals of wanting to ban something? It's a mystery.

I was thinking about semi trucks. They are pretty dangerous on highways. Of course if we ban them, how would we eat? The reason that pedestrians often get hit by cars is because they walk out in front of moving vehicles or try to cross roads where it isn't safe to do so because they are too lazy to cross at controlled intersections or cross walks. Better enforcement of jaywalking laws would do more for pedestrian safety.

Vehicle traffic should be segregated according to type. Semis and other large commercial vehicles should have their own road system separate from normal civilian traffic. And this is something we easily could do if we weren't wasting trillions of dollars every year on a bloated military empire. This is one of many reasons why I get so angry at the pathetic neocons and neoliberals who run US foreign policy. They are preventing our country and the west from having advanced infrastructures and higher standards of living.

And this is something we easily could do if we weren't wasting trillions of dollars every year on a bloated military empire. I have often thought that large trucks should be excluded from regular lanes of traffic. There are some areas where that would be difficult however. I'm thinking of mountain roads and on bridges.
