    Amazon bought close to 400 acres near the Intel site in New Albany for around $117 million.


    At the same time, an entity tied to the New Albany Co. has filed a series of applications with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency for approximately 5 million square feet of space at New Albany Tech Park, as well as multiple data center facilities measuring millions more square feet on and near the land purchased by the technology giant. Three transactions totaling $116.7 million were recorded by the Licking County Auditor last week. Amazon Data Services Inc. bought parcels measuring 201 acres, 101.9 acres and 89.2 acres on Beech Road NW.


    The land is part of the more than 1,600 acres annexed from Jersey Township to New Albany last year. About 900 acres were for Intel Corp.'s $20 billion semiconductor complex, which is close to the property purchased by Amazon. What Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) plans to do with the properties is unclear. An Amazon spokesperson said the company "has a practice against commenting on our future roadmap."

    That, unless my math is wrong, which it may very well be, is $29,000.00 per acre $116,000,000 / 400 = $29,000.00. that may not be excessive for prime commercial property

    Amazon bought a defunct shopping mall here in Knoxville, tore it down, and built a distribution center. It hasn't gone live yet, but it's easy access to I-40 and I-81, I-75 and a number of other major highways.

    There has been a boom of apartment/condo complexes going up since it was first rumored to be coming to the area.

    Now we also have a Buccee's at Exit 407 of I-40, with the Cherokee Nation planning on building a theme park and eventual casino at the same exit, just to further congest the area.
