Indoctrination is an interesting word. Might be more concerned with parent and media influence in that realm ("media" includes social media).

Adolescents tend to consider the source, at least on a subconscious level, and value information differently. A lifelong influence of parents and family has the power of longevity and proximity. Social media has the power of being what adolescents choose to view and listen to. A high school teacher for 4-5 months in one class? Probably not going to cause some massive change in anyone.

The comic is a lie. Florida law requires teaching black history. The AP course was full of lies and propoganda.

I...I don't see an issue with teaching a black history class -- as long as it sticks to facts and doesn't get into trying to push a social agenda...

There's no ban on actual African American history being taught. If parents want "$#@! theory" being part that they can always present that to their kids on their own.

It doesn't appear to include any homosexual studies, and the only mention of "gender" is the way it relates to black women and their experiences as slaves and early citizens.

I just scanned it so it's possible I missed something, although I don't think I missed anything objectionable.

DeSantis needs to crawl back in his hole and let parents of their districts desicd.

StJames either didn't take the time to read the OP, or he read it and didn't understand it. It (and this story) has nothing to do with what he was talking about.

As for the question of letting the districts decide on what to accept in terms of curriculum for an AP course, as others have noted the one in question appears to violate state law, so action at the state level would seem to be appropriate.

Future President Ron DeSantis has gone one step further with his Nazi like control of children and parents. He is actually proposing a bill that will allow ANY STUDENT a voucher enabling them to attend any school of their choice. If this monstrosity of a bill passes I predict the entire First Class Government School System will collapse before the ink is dry. Unindoctrinated parents will immediately make plans to actually get their children educated rather then indoctrinated.

Parents, if they chose, will then be able to then teach gender fluidity at home, the advantages of Marxism over economic freedom, and lgpqwerty studies also - if they chose to do so.
