    I would avoid creatine.

One of the problems with many supplements is that people tend to overdo it. They seem to think that as long as they are not prescription drugs with a danger of overdose, they can take as much as they want.

Creatine has been extensively studied. It's beneficial. Sure, you could take too much but that's true of anything.

It’s not beneficial if you overuse it, which is very easy to do. It is hard on your kidney’s. In order for creatine to be beneficial, one needs to be in nearly perfect health. In that case it’s probably not needed.

I just believe supplements are a bad idea except in rare cases.

I’ve seen friends develop serious health problem because of consistent use of dietary supplements.

People who use these tend to take several. This is a bad idea.

You can believe supplements are a bad idea, generally speaking, and I would agree except that creatine isn't one of those supplements. No, you do not have to be in perfect health. You just exercise caution if you have poor functioning kidneys. It has been widely studied and probably more so than any other supplement on the market.

If you are a professional athlete in which muscle mass and strength is important it may provide a benefit. If you are not in that category it would be wise to avoid it. But go ahead, go for it if that’s what you want to do.

If one has kidney health issues, they should absolutely avoid its use. Not just limit it.

Creatine has a variety of benefits beyond muscle mass and strength and has no significant side effects. If you don't like taking supplements that's fine but make those decisions based upon accurate information.

If you believe creatine is dangerous then, no, you haven't. Not on this case.

You said there are no side effects. That’s not accurate. There have been documented side effects in some people. Kidney stones, liver damage, weight gain, cramping, digestive problems are just a few.
