Power Restored

Having the power completely out can in fact be very peaceful, but it gets old very fast, lol. I love the sound of everything powering back up.

Like when I thought I just need to google, wait, no power. Or fixed a sandwich and popped it in the microwave, oh, damn. Or closing the door in the bathroom, where's the!?

But yes everything powering back up is comforting.

This year the outage was not statewide but specific areas, like my zip code. I went out to get a coffee and all around they had power.

We don't get illegal aliens on the edge of San Antonio. But it could be all the illegals bused to SA are crowding out the homeless as there's an influx of them out here.

Lol, yep. I do the same darn thing. I'll walk into the same room half a dozen times and hit the same light switch that still doesn't work.

Freezing rain last two days and a power outage starting this morning at 4 am and just now restored.

Temps got down to the 50s, trees iced, and me with up to four layers of clothes, a wool cap and a hoodie. Nothing like last year when the water froze as well and power was out a couple days.

It's actually calming. The ceiling fans are off, the heater off, all the little house sounds diminished.

No Internet distractions unless I use my phone.

Just the sound of rain and vehicles passing by. Like the CPS truck constantly going back and forth, lights flashing, like as if they were trying to assure us they were working on it.

Power restored, the various sounds of computers, monitors, printers, modems, cable set-top boxes, TVs, lights, alarms...and finally the heater. And now I can start to shed layers of clothing.

Oh well, got a lot of reading done. Another daily chapter in Luke, Shlaes' The Forgotten Man, and the intro and first essay in the 1930 I'll Take a Stand: The South and the Agrarian Tradition.

Had no power from 3pm-5am last Tuesday afternoon/Wednesday morning when the tornado plowed through here.

Been lucky where I am, no tornadoes so far.
