Death And The Christian (Some Comforting Bible Verses.)

I plan to post about 11 Bible verses (or passages) that give we Christians
great comfort for the soul when it comes our time to actually experience
the death of our present physical bodies.

I hope you, the reader, will add your thoughts and/or any of your fave
Bible verses that relate to the Death Of Christians.

    ______________________________________________

"If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord.
So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord."
    Romans 14:8

    And THAT is win-win.

    _______________________________________________
    The Death Of Lazarus
"Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”
Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in
me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will
    never die.
    John 11:23-26

    __________________________________________

    "The righteous perish,
    and no one takes it to heart;
    the devout are taken away,
    and no one understands
that the righteous are taken away
    to be spared from evil.
    Those who walk uprightly
    enter into peace;
they find rest as they lie in death."
    Isaiah 57:1-2

    _________________________________________________

"I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood
cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable
    inherit the imperishable.

Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all
be changed— in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last
trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised
imperishable, and we will be changed.

For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and
the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed
with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the
saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed
    up in victory.

“Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus
    Christ.
    1 Cor. 15:50-57

    __________________________________________________ _

To the thief on the cross:
"Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
    Luke 23:43

My interpretation: The word paradise is another word for Heaven.

"After this it was noised abroad that Mr. Valiant-for-truth was
taken with a summons, by the same post as the other; and had
this for a token that the summons was true, “That his pitcher was
    broken at the fountain.”

When he understood it, he called for his friends, and told them of it.

Then, said he, I am going to my Father’s; and though with great
difficulty I have got hither, yet now I do not repent me of all the
trouble I have been at to arrive where I am.

My sword I give to him that shall succeed me in my pilgrimage,
and my courage and skill to him that can get it.

My marks and scars I carry with me, to be a witness for me that I
have fought His battles who will now be my rewarder.

When the day that he must go hence was come, many accompanied
him to the river-side, into which as he went, he said, “Death, where
    is thy sting?”

And as he went down deeper, he said, “Grave, where is thy victory?”

So he passed over, and all the trumpets sounded for him on the other side.
    ... John Bunyan (1628-1688), The Pilgrim’s Progress [1678]

It's sad the Bible was written with so many riddles and other mysterious statements. It takes away some of the validity of the plainly written

My question is why didn't the writers be told by God or Jesus to write plainly since they had the ability ? ( As evidenced by the above scriptures )

Jag , I'm not being condencsending regarding your faith . I'm just unclear how a kind God uses fear of hell aka " damnation " to have you worship him.

No disrespect . I'm simply not in fear of asking questions. Maybe Rudemaster can enlighten us with her ignorant bs

What might seem plainly written to someone around 10 A.D. might not seem so plain to someone living today. And what might seem plainly written to someone living today might not seem so plain to someone living in the past.

Fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, it is not a bad thing. This isn't radical leftwing safe space, life is not for the faint of heart. Worshipping God is not to feed His ego, it is because it is worshipping actual goodness, the source of all that is good and holy.

Question: why did God have to have his own son whacked on the cross to "wash away our sons"? That seems rather extreme and quite frankly , rude.

Why did he have to do that. ?

I'm almost certain Jesus was not amused

Because the atonement of sin required Blood. And he needed a perfect sacrifice. Jesus went to the cross willingly and paid the penalty for my sins,

I am Thankful for that. And am blesses beyond what I deserve

I don't fear death for myself, but I don't want to think of the paid it would cause my little one! So I will find away to keep her safe and happy for as long as I can'

I understand your comfort zone as warm and fuzzy is a good thing but why on Earth did the washing away of sin require blood ?

Unless God himself made that rule who was making them for him ?

Not to be condescending but that makes zero sense to me
