The percentage of non-believers who are "militant" on the subject is tiny. Most atheists (like most believers, if we're being totally honest) don't give it much thought. On this forum, the only reason some non-believers end up coming off that way, somewhat, is that they are baited - there's no other word for it - by two or three individuals whose proposition is that it is foolish and idiotic to be an atheist, and the lion's share of the criticism in terms of religion is being directed toward them and their attitude - not at believers in general. You have to ask, who starts most if not all of the threads on the topic; it's not the atheists. Nearly all of those members who argue on the non-believers side go out of our way to extol the virtues and good work of Christians, and we write about the wonderful Christian friends we have. There is nothing "militant" about our non-belief; we simply have a problem with being insulted because of it.

I guess that we look at things differently, I know that I don't try and tell people how to believe, yet I am answered constantly with them telling me what a monster my God is?

Is there something that makes non believers feel better if the God of Christianity is a monster?

I would admit that there is a fair amount of rude comments about God lately, Now I have been away for quite some time, so it is possible there are a lot of threads that have provoked this that I am not aware of

A small minority of non-believers is not the issue when the activists within that minority are promoting the notion of religious belief in general as destructive and dangerous. Just like the fanatical vegetarians who want all meat and animal products off the menu they are not to be confused with tolerant libertarian minded persons.

I don't believe I have seen any atheist her claim that religious beliefs are destructive and dangerous.

The same way as I would describe someone that could walk out of a burning house by using a door they thought was ugly and choose not to.

God did not invent sin, he invented free will as slavery would have been a sin. That man chooses to sin was not gods fault and he could have just left it at that. But he choose to provide a bridge and make it simple to find and free to cross, those that choose not to find it?

That is not on him or me or anyone for that matter.
