"Ravencrest," the Cleveland Mega Mansion of the Late Scott Wolstein, Sells for More Than $10 Million

    Ravencrest2.jpeg

The Hunting Valley estate of the late Scott Wolstein, who tragically passed away after a battle with melanoma last year, was on the market for $15 million.

It has sold to a pair of LLCs for at least $10.4 million, according to records filed last week with Cuyahoga County and reporting by Crain's Cleveland. (Scene mistakenly reported the sale price as $6 million earlier this week. The property splits Cuyahoga and Geauga counties, and $6 million was simply the Cuyahoga side. We regret the error.) Crain's additionally reports that the LLCs are "tied to Timothy M. Spencer, the managing partner of an Australian private equity firm." Spencer has local ties, including graduating from Kent State and CWRU.

The 32,000-square-foot estate, the largest home in Northeast Ohio, took five years and $30 million to build. It sits on 150 acres and is respledent with custom and luxury finishes everywhere you look. Custom designed by architect Tony Paskevich and built by Pistone and Tesauro, "Ravencrest," as it's called, boasts a greenhouse, wine cellar, indoor basketball court, infinity pool, indoor pool, steam room, climbing wall, disco, sports bar, elevator, a dog's room, complete with an eye-level plasma TV, and a mini shower built for a pet parrot.

As Cleveland Magazine noted when it was built, "There are so many bathrooms that neither Wolstein’s builder nor architect knew how many, and, after giving us a tour of the entire home, everyone was too tired to go back and count them all."

It, in fact, has 10.5 bathrooms, as well as six bedrooms.

I didn't realize the Wolstein's had so much to do with The Flats. It really saved downtown Cleveland.

I think regardless of the size of the house I would build, were I fabulously well to do, the only things on that list I would bother with at all would be the indoor pool and steam room. Give me some very large rooms with floor to ceiling bookshelves, a fully outfitted and equipped veterinary care space and room to care for many pets and fosters, and a home theatre with the largest video screen they make, and I would want for nothing.

I absolutely agree. Old school. I think he paid a lot more for to build it.

That doesn't look like a house, it looks like a housing development! It's a series of connected buildings. Anyway, even the main building would be too much house for me. You need staff to maintain a place like that. I just recently binge watched Downton Abbey. You end up with trying to find private spaces to talk, without servants present or running in and out.

Too much space isn't very homey. However, the interior spaces were very nice, but that dining area reminded me of a hotel dining room.
In quoting my post, you affirm and agree that you have not been goaded, provoked, emotionally manipulated or otherwise coerced into responding.
