Whenever I fly or have surgery, I want to make sure my pilot or doctor is picked out of equity, inclusion and wokeness.

Even if they barely made it out of school, I would take them so I can feel good about myself and give someone a make or break experience.

Even the risk of crashing on the side of the Andes, or having one kidney removed by mistake, inclusion is the most important thing above all

In one of the P3C squadrons I flew in, we had one crew that, with the exception of the Flight Engineer, was all Black. Jay, the FE, used to say, "If this plane goes down, no one is ever going to believe it was an accident".

That's true, of course. In my daytime job-surfing days I was occasionally hired to supervise people doing things I had no expertise in whatsoever. If someone is a talented manager, he or she can often be effective right away and pick up more information and detail about the work on the job.

Nevertheless, my question for the Biden people would be, why was it necessary to pick someone for the position who had zero knowledge in the field, when there were (and are) I'm sure individuals who worked closely with the outgoing FAA head who could have stepped into the role immediately? Did their sex and/or skin color disqualify them?

I’m certain one could find a qualified black person to fill that role. Probably someone already in a management position in the FAA.
