But back on topic...frankly, it has gotten pretty stupid. Heimdall, the Norse god and defender of the Bifrost, the Rainbow Bridge, was known as the Shining God because he had the whitest skin in Asgard. So in the Marvel Universe he is, of course, played by Idris Elba. A number of the other Asgardians are Black of course, as are at least some members of virtually every alien race encountered in the new Star Trek programs. In a show called 'The Irregulars' a couple of years ago, a 19th Century British royal Duke was portrayed as Black, with a White wife. I honestly have no problem with Black people on TV and in the movies, but is it too much to ask their casting and appearance makes sense?
