Here's why a ballot initiative would change things...

You're probably a single-issue voter yourself in some cases. I doubt you'd vote for a candidate who wanted to end your 2nd Amendment rights--even if he was a conservative that agreed with your other positions.

No one should ever go along to get along. Don't ever sell out your true beliefs.
THEY ARE ACTUALLY OVERTURNING THE VOTE they had to change a state law first and then they did this if youbdont make it part of the states constitution the peoples republic of MI can overturn the will of the people

Fight that. As hard as you can.

One thing I've learned in my years of energy activism is that nothing is set in stone. Laws and rules change when new people are elected, so start now to find the people you want and then run them for office.

You can bet the Unions are behind the latest rash of people to be elected--and they've probably been working for years to put their people in place--but you can do it too.

It's too bad we have to do things like that--but we're lucky those avenues are open to us. MI citizens don't want a closed-shop state, so it will eventually be overturned. When, however, is the question.

We are looking at moving the offices to Northern IN. that will ease a lot of the pain and minimize the number of people that we will have to let go! we have at least 2 years of this and likely it iwll take 10 to reverse the effects.

Looking at an old Strip mall and remodeling it to have a lot of small offices so people can move their operations out of the state.

I feel for you. We were building around Lake Tahoe and in the Reno area and we had to be very careful about who we hired. As residential builders, we weren't on the hit list as much as the big commercial companies, but I remember a large hotel burning down when it was nearly complete and word on the street was that it was burned because the company that built it wasn't union.

So much crap goes on. I lot of people just don't understand the problem with forcing people to support unions. The people don't want to and unions have (for the most part) outlived their usefulness.

Back in Kansas now, we don't have to deal with that stuff.

There was a joint automotive plant that was going to be built in the Lansing area, about 1500 jobs plus the surrounding support of restaurants etc. The have published a statement that they were no longer considering MI in their future plans, They did this within about 30 mins of her statement that she was signing the bill.

I have no issues with Unions if they would actually support the workers and not defend the indefensible, but they don't even do that anymore they just take the dues and donate them to the DNC for political power.
