Why I no longer greet new members

As much as I took issue with Trinity from 'the other place' I must say she had a few MOD aspects that I did admire.

One was hunting down Sock Puppets! The others were no tolerance for those who come here to simply drop threads and don't participate in debate, and spamming threads with unrelated trolling to distract and start fights. None of this being partisan political.

Occasionally Ill notice I don't always follow up well on threads I start. Most of you are simply stronger posters than I. Once it gets past the point I feel I could contribute in a meaningful way I tend to fade from the thread

In the past I used to always greet our new members it was lots of fun. But I don't do it anymore, because I can't tell which ones are actually new members or current or past members making a second account. There have been a few members here that I was sure of were the same person. I won't say who they were. It's just that some people say certain things or use punctuation in a certain way and you can just tell. It would be nice if we really do get new members, and I miss some of our old members, even some of the banned ones who were a little unruly but fun.

We have had some interesting sock accounts over the years. I guess they did provide some entertainment. Of course if this is out of line feel free to put it in flame out or the hole. Just voicing my thoughts here.

There is clearly a staleness here and as such I must be part of that. I personally feel that the lib vs con things often goes too far and reverts to tribal name calling and such. But it's hard to change patterns.

She also protects her forum from anyone saying anything that could endanger it. Our mods do a great job especially given how low the pay is. LOL
But in the end it falls to us, the forum members too. To check part of our ego at the door and be willing to openly debate issues

This reminds me of a story from work. I once had a female coworker come up to me and tell me she met my wife yesterday. She told me she waved to her and they had a nice conversation. Then looked at me and stated, " So she is not blind, and seemed to be quite intelligent. So how did she end up with you?" I replied, "Well if it isn't my looks, or personality, I'm not sure what it could be." All while blatantly adjusting my package. She LOL'ed, my boss was not as amused. I asked why he said that was inappropriate? Then explained that it was coincidental that I needed to adjust, and that I was, and still am confused how I ended up with such a great wife.

I see it much as you do. Just because two people don't agree on ideology is no reason for people to get bent out of shape. Many would also likely disagree on choice of gfs, bfs, wives, hubby, cat or dog , favorite food.
