Illinois schools are failing and getting worse

In spite of ranking in the top 10 in spending, Illinois schools are producing students who can’t read or do simple math at grade level. Obviously student achievement is not related to funding.

    https://wirepoints.org/wirepoints-ha...ts-wirepoints/

Illinois ranks 8th in per student spending and has the highest property tax burden in the nation. Yet despite that spending, just 30% of Illinois students are reading at grade level and only 26% are proficient in math.
Results are even worse for Illinois’ minority students. Just 18% of Hispanic students and only 12% of black students statewide can read at grade level
When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.“ - Benjamin Franklin.

Everything in Illinois is skewed so badly by the Chicago area.
Greater Chicago is a cancer on a otherwise good state. It is also an extreme cancer on our country as center of the Socialist movement.
    Let's go Brandon !!!

More than half of the failing schools are in the Chicago school district, but many are not.

Just lower the standards. Then everything will appear fine.
I am tired of everyone fighting with each other. This is all by design.

Yeah but Chicago.....has 22 schools where not one single student in the entire school can read at grade level....and Chicago has another 33 schools where the entire school isn't proficient in math. Forget the stats......not one student in the entirety of 33 entire f'n schools is proficient in math.

    That's an issue.

And why I'm always humored by those who tell me policing or bail laws are the biggest threat to minority communities. It's not the police...it's the school systems. If black lives really mattered, BLM would address these education inequities. They're not.

    Lips to God's Ear:
8th grade math class. Asked a student what 2x4 was.......calculator comes out.
Told class that 4x4 = 16. Wrote it on the chalk board.
Then asked what the square root of 16 is. All I got were questions on how to make that problem work on their calculators.
I could have sent them home with their heads spinning over what the square root of 1 is.

But do they know that white people are racist, rich people want to keep them poor and what Gender they want to be. Forget about that trivial stuff like reading, I mean what are they going to do with that in their future?
