    • Healthy weight
    • Sleep quality
    • Stress levels
    • Social isolation
    • Proximity to parks
    • Amount that people spend on outdoor recreation
    States ranked high not only because of long life expectancies, but also if their residents live a healthy lifestyle.

    1. Hawaii
    2. Minnesota and Vermont (tie)
    3. Washington
    4. New Hampshire
    5. Utah

    Yeah, I'd definitely say that's true in that I can't imagine anyone who isn't physically disabled in some way going for more than a month without working out. Exercise is good for you not only physically, but psychologically as well. It actually makes me feel happier.

    Vermont's also a very rural state overall, it might be worth adding. Nature hikes are common and also recommended for the same reasons as exercise more generally. It's just good for people to feel close to nature. Take it from a chronically depressed person who needs every technique in the book.

    Exercising once a month isn't an achievement, that's for sure.
