Exclamation Tulare Lake - A long-dormant lake has reappeared in California

A long-dormant lake has reappeared in California, bringing havoc along with it -

Months of atmospheric river storms have pummeled the area, which is home to crucial farmland. A historic snowpack in the mountains above the basin will make things worse.

People have worked for a century to make California’s Tulare Basin into a food grower’s paradise. That pastoral landscape now looks more like the Pacific Ocean in many areas.Months of atmospheric river storms have pummeled the area and saturated the basin’s soil, which sits about halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, not far from Fresno. The rains have led to floods that damaged towns and deluged farms and have begun to refill what was once a sprawling lake. The floods have pitted neighboring property owners against one another and raised tensions over how to manage the flows, which have damaged hundreds of structures. And more water is on the way.

It is probably all the global warming.

Remember in 1972. Galveston Island would be under water by the year 2000.
    2023

Developers are so worried about they added this on a pier since they said it.

Same as when I was a kid in 1972. No change. Developers adding multi million dollar homes each year.
I am tired of everyone fighting with each other. This is all by design.

Tulare Lake was known as the largest lake West of the Mississippi to the Spaniards. It was over 13,000 sq miles in size. The Great Salt Lake is only 3300 sq miles.

So was that on the Real Estate disclosure forms. BTW, you house is in a Lake.

Apparently, ground subsidence from groundwater pumping and loss of soil carbon has lowered the elevation by 2’, making the problem worse.

Man - 0, Mother Nature - 1. Who thought it was a good idea to drain a body of water that lies in a basin at the bottom of mountain ranges, where the annual snow pack drains? Everything in California seems to exist in stubborn opposition to its natural state. Then it's just one natural disaster after another and people blame climate change. No, its not climate change, other than the normal cycle of natural climate changes for that region.

Everyone knows it's a bad idea to build on flood plains, so where have people around the world located much of their prime real estate and agricultural lands - on flood plains. What happens every few years along the Mississippi as well as the delta? It floods and it's like groundhog day. People act like they shouldn't have been expecting it, yet the Mississippi River Basin spans 1.245 million square miles in 31 states and two Canadian provinces—forming the world’s fourth largest river basin. Duh.

People flock to live in some of the worst hurricane zones in N. America and if that's not bad enough, do they build from concrete and steel, apart from the Caribbean where they do build from concrete, no, they cover the landscape with flimsy wood frame structures. Duh.
In quoting my post, you affirm and agree that you have not been goaded, provoked, emotionally manipulated or otherwise coerced into responding.

It came up just recently in a thread by @Just AnotherPerson about the end of the drought in California. Otherwise I would never heard of Tulare Lake either.
