The Ukrainian strategy should be to take land and block supply lines, to draw the Russians out. Disable the rail and roadways. Then use drones to knock out ships trying to resupply through the Asov.

What they are doing in Bahkmut is just a pissing match and winner gets a pile of debris.
The Russians are in a strategic defensive posture. A stalemate is a win for Russia.

Not in most people's eyes. They have destroyed their presence on the world stage. They have embarrassed themselves militarily Their infrastructure has been damaged and all they have left is selling off their natural resources to far fewer customers. NATO has increased due to the war and now sits uninterrupted on their northern border.

They have become China's little $#@!. Just like North Korea.

So if the war ended today then Russia has lost in a very large way. So has Ukraine Ukraine will become very heavily allied with the west and prosper. The will build a strong military presence as a priority, even if they do not become part of NATO.

So explain to us how this would be a Russian victory. They really needed the land? LOL
    Let's go Brandon !!!

Russia doesn't care about what you think.

Russia fought to keep Ukraine out of Nato and to stop the Ukrainian civil war in the Russian-speaking parts of Ukraine.

Russia has a land bridge to Crimea.

And the Russians are bleeding the US at little cost to themselves. We are willing dupes.

    Your imagining things.

Russia is not getting any additional revenues because of the war. Yet they are spending in excess of 100 billion and getting nothing for it.

Russia's western customers are gone for a long period of time. They will not be in the G7 again all their bargaining will have to be done in China.

The high price of oil is all Biden's fault. Russia does not factor into it. Russia would have had 100+ billion of extra money to spend. Any other claim would be ridiculous. Now Russia will have to replenish their base and military and they will have to rebuild the parts of Ukraine that/if they retain.

So you are being confused by your politics on the economics and long term damage to Russia.

See above. At the outset of this war that is what they said they intended.

The Biden* Regime is telling them that they are wasting resources on a non-strategic Bakhmut.

A stalemate is sort of the point of the defense. If the defense is lucky the enemy will break itself on that defense.

After (even during) the offensive force stalls out, the defense may be able to courter attack.

An unintended consequence of the western economic war is to create a new world economic order. True global free trade is over. We will trade with nations like us and not them. And vise versa.

Is that good or bad? Only time will tell.
