Humans just become more efficient and smarter. The industrial revolution is our friend.
As the population grows we are producing much higher quality products that last longer with less materials.

Humanity is undergoing continuous improvement and that includes environmentally.
Perhaps because of where you grew up, you don't remember what our fivers used to look like. A mouthful of the Charles River growing up made you wonder if you were going to show up in the ER. I remember seeing another river on a drive with my uncle that looked and smelled like turned milk. Apparently due to a paper mill.

But some people run to China for the cheap price where open pollution is no problem. Do you know anyone that does that?

On the drive to work on my cabin this morning, I heard a presentation by Dave Foreman with a theme about preserving wilderness - the specific subject was the Gila Wilderness, the first designated wilderness in American history. My cabin is located just one mile from the Gila Wilderness boundary.One bit of Dave's speech really resonated with me where he put mankind's presence since the Cambrian period, when life as we know it began to evolve 540 million years ago. He compares it to a book, 540 pages long, with each page representing a million years. If each page has 200 words, and each word has (I didn't catch how many characters), the the existence of humanity on the planet is represented by the period after the last word on the 540th page.Yet here we are - 8 billion strong, having changed the face of the planet in unimaginable ways and heating the atmosphere and oceans mindlessly, polluting everywhere... and breeding like $#@!roaches. What can I say, humans are bizarre. I hope this life is an illusion.

The link goes to a typically shallow environmentalist website just one of many out there that doesn't honestly address the environment problems as it really is that are often easy to spot but the ecowarrior tends to have an unnatural desire to shove Marxist based solutions down the throats of many who doesn't accept some of the obvious BullCrap spewed out such as this profoundly false and dishonest claim:

Yes, there is indeed 8 billion now, but the true problem is how people live it and how they over consume and deplete resources they use too much of does people really need massive homes that requires additional heating and cooling that requires an expanding power source to maintain it, why do they need to turn night into day from street and building lighting systems everywhere even if the streets are mostly deserted most of the night, sheer waste of power and a destruction of the night sky is the end result even empty parking lots fully lighted a waste that should be eliminated.

Building designs are often wasteful that uses too much energy to maintain it, why are so few people not using the natural heating and cooling of the underground duct system which could ELIMINATE the need for heaters and cooling units in most of the world and save 50% of power consumption and very easy to maintain, or the lack of south facing Verandas, Basements, Belvedere, and so on I have been in homes that use the PASSIVE heating approach that also reduces a lot of energy consumptions needs.

Build Homes into the hillside or in a soil covered berms is easy and works fine with a lot less energy needs and maintenance.

Best done in drier areas of the country, can still use it is wetter areas but special caution is needed to control the moisture.


My Uncle had a fully bermed home built in Western Colorado and was very happy with it.

Do people need to go halfway around the world several times to see the same things and I know of people who visit Yellowstone park a DOZEN times even though they live 2,000 miles away a waste of energy in my view.

The problem is mixing the true problems with non problems such as "heating the atmosphere and oceans' (False) with growing overpopulation (True) into a single statement that creates problems of its own.

Fact is that at the 430 ppm level postulated CO2 warm forcing has become negligible, that Sun/Ocean dynamo dominates the weather and climate process and trends mainly through the oceans that then warms up the atmosphere.

CO2 does NOT create any new energy just slows down the release of energy from leaving the planet a bit especially in the first 80 ppm then rapidly less after that, from my earlier post here in the forum, POST 6 LINK

Resource depletion is in the early stages that will in time grow worse as population continues to increase because parts of the planet humans can't expand the food pool especially in the ocean waters which is why depletion is most significant there as restriction on harvest quotas has been growing slowly.

The increasing lack of easily sourced potable water has been a growing trend in recent decade and even longer in some areas ARAL SEA is a classic example of excessive use of water of a region which will eventually stop the expansion of irrigation systems and no more increase in crop acreage the large aquifers have been over pumped in many areas for years as well thus a long tern drop in water levels underground has been the end result.

If many humans can learn to drop their freaking stupid ego postering and seek a better way to live comfortably on a lot less energy and resources, it would be easily done.....
