To the committed leftist every resource simply belongs to "the people" or better yet the self appointed representatives of the mob. Buildings, factories, and even ideas and inventions are just like rocks and trees.

"Well, there was something that happened at that plant where I worked for twenty years. It was when the old man died and his heirs took over. There were three of them, two sons and a daughter, and they brought a new plan to run the factory.

They let us vote on it, too, and everybody -- almost everybody -- voted for it. We didn't know. We thought it was good. No, that's not true, either. We thought that we were supposed to think it was good. The plan was that everybody in the factory would work according to his ability, but would be paid according to his need......."

    Except prison.

The first Communist Revolution was actually called the French Revolution which began in 1789 which was created by many of the same issues in the US today, low wages, high unemployment, high taxes, and high inflation. The French Revolution saw the executions of over 27,000 civilians and government officials and another 10,000 who died in prisons. The outcome of all this was the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte and the deaths of millions more due to the wars Bonaparte was engaged in. It is estimated that between 3 and 6 million soldiers and civilians died in the Napoleonic Wars

Over 10 million, mostly civilians, died during the Russian Revolution with many of the former members of the Russian aristocracy killed after the revolution was over

By comparison 6800 colonist were killed in battle and another 19,000 who died while in the custody of the British. None were executed after the British were defeated and The United States of America was created.

Socialism/Communism always ends in millions dead and life eventually being controlled in every aspect of that life. The ideals of freedom and capitalism resulted in no reprisals against those the colonist were fighting against.

    Capitalism equals freedom of choice
    Socialism equals death and destruction.

Nowhere is this more vividly portrayed then in photos taken of both sides of Berlin from the Berlin Wall just before it came down. West Berlin was a vibrant modern city by 1970, East Berlin looked the same as it did in 1930.

Devotion to the truth is the hallmark of morality; there is no greater, nobler, more heroic form of devotion than the act of a man who assumes the responsibility of thinking.”
