We should have another thread about misheard song lyrics - "mondegreens", as they're called. There have been some classics...like, "'Scuse me while I kiss this guy" (Jimi Hendrix - and I read that he actually sang it that way occasionally because he thought it was funny) and "There's a bathroom on the right" (CCR). For many years I couldn't figure out why the Steve Miller Band was singing about a "big hotel with a light on". And you'll never convince me that Technotronic is singing "Get your booty on the dance floor" when it sounds exactly like they're saying "Get your booty on the bus now". I could also tell my story, for the benefit of those who haven't heard it, of the time a mondegreen almost killed me.

Five or six years ago I began hearing a song on the radio that I really liked and assumed was a recent release, and I mentioned it to my youngest son. When I told him some of the lyrics he laughed and said, "That song has been around forever. I didn't know you were into emo-rock". It was 'Bring Me to Life' by Evanescence, released in 2003.

I thought "deep purple " was the color of a guy that owes you $20 and has to be choked for the money . He turns deep purple then a little butterfly floats past playing "smoke on the water" with it's wings

I may be on to something. In addition I told the butterfly I was all" tangled up in blue " and to stay away from mushrooms .

Amy, lead vocal for the band is a product of Little Rock Arkansas. She goes to Wal Mart like every other Arkansan but the difference is she wears shoes and isn't dragging 15 snot noses thru the store behind her

When I was a kid I thought the song by Sly & the Family Stone "if you want me to stay " meant the band might visit lol
