How Do you Use the "Quote Function"?

There's a couple different quote functions, what exactly are you wanting to know?

Just respond below the quote box.

If you start trying to alter/edit other people's quotes they you may end up getting thread banned.

When you click on reply with quote, it will quote the entire post of the person you are quoting. If you wish to quote only a portion of that, you have to cut out the pieces you don't want. But, in order to stay within the forum rules, you must place ellipses (dots, or periods) at the beginning and end of the portion you wish to quote. When you click on the reply with quote button you have to be careful the forum software hasn't put you in the middle of the other person's quote. That's why it's always best to make sure you scroll all the way down before you type your comments. That's why you and your alter ego run into trouble for altering other forum members posts when quoting. You also need to proofread before you post, or you will run into trouble. It's always best to preview your post before posting to stay out of trouble. In order to proofread from the quick reply interface, you must click on go advanced. Then from the advanced interface once you have edited your quote and post, click on preview post and make sure you've got it right before posting.

If the post you're quoting isn't too lengthy, you can also just bold that part of it that you want to respond to, and people will know what you're doing.
