We have listened to a lot of member input about the new discussion area and group. Some said it was exclusive, some said voting was a popularity contest, and some asked why not stricter moderation? Based on member input, we have decided to open tPF Discussion up to all, do away with voting, and give members control over it.
It will work as follows:
- Post a thread in the tPF Discussion Forum. We ask that you select the prefix "tPFD: " so members know what they are. Mods can edit titles if needed.
- If you are the thread starter, you can request moderators to thread ban those who you feel are engaging in flamebait trolling, off-topic distractions and personal attacks. All the you need to do is report a post, ask for a thread ban, and give your reason. It will be done and made clear in the offending post. These thread bans will not be counted as infractions.
It will still be moderated as any other part of the forum based on forum rules. The theme is still to try to develop a place for serious discussion. By serious discussion we mean making meaningful contributions to the topic at hand free of flamebait trolling, off-topic distractions and personal attacks.
Some points to clarify some misunderstandings:
- We will not move existing threads to tPFD.
- Only OPs can request TBs in tPFD.
- There are no pre-emptive TBs.
- Mods will simply post that the OP has requested TB.
- Keep in mind, most importantly, tPFD is member-run.
