The Order of Things by James Schall SJ.
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

I read that! Very good book about a part of American history we don't hear much about.

I read it because I developed a fascination with Lewis Wetzel. I don't think Eckert treated him fairly while giving the cruelty of Simon Girty a pass.

Received "Navy Daze" in the mail today from a former shipmate. Its subtitle is "Coming of age in the 1960's aboard a Navy Destroyer" Since I was 21 when I joined the Navy in 1965 I want to critique this book based on my own experiences.

I pick up one of Andy McNabs whenever I see it on sale at a supermarket or bookstore.

They are explosive action fiction written by an ex SAS soldier. Andy McNab.

    RIP Wes

I recognized the name so I looked it up to verify- he wrote Bravo Two Zero. His SAS patrol was compromised during Desert Storm. 3 were killed, 4 captured (included Andy) and 1 escaped.

When he retired he was the most highly decorated SAS serving soldier in the Regiment.

On edit. And if you look close at the top of the book cover, it says author of Bravo Two Zero.

Yes that’s right, he was captured during the first Iraq invasion in 1990 by Republican guards.

In his published account the members of the captured SAS team were imprisoned together, they had to share a communal toilet, the toilet would on occasion get blocked, he was singled out to unblock it with his hands, once unblocked he was forced to lick the $#@! off his hands.

Of course Andy McNab could of done that all day long, hard as nails, he probably would of asked for seconds!

I also read a lot of Chris Ryan’s books also.

He was the only one to evade capture from “Bravo 2 zero” mission, he walked back to allied lines evading the hunting Republican guard units.

I read a book as an older teenager called 'My Love Affair With the Navy' by Allan R. Bosworth, and I believe that was probably more than anything what influenced me to join the Navy in 1972. Another good read is 'On Watch' by Admiral Elmo Zumwalt.
